About Ana: Ana Yibeli is an indigenous person from the Embera Katío community. Her mother works as a domestic worker. Ana Yibeli was previously at our other Home, the Hogar Bohío de María, in 2023 with her sister Juliana. Her mother withdrew them to return to the indigenous community. They were in Bogotá experiencing instability that led to the girl dropping out of school.

The mother requested the placement because she left the community again a few months ago. She normally works as a domestic worker in family homes and has no other relatives who can help her care for Ana Yibeli and her other two sisters.

Ana Yibeli began her studies in first grade. They report that in the community there is a risk of being kidnapped by illegal groups and that they lack the support of their father.

Home Duties & Privileges: Ana Yibeli is part of the first stage of adaptation, in which she works on the institution's training proposal, the values of obedience and respect, as well as organizational criteria. She takes on cleaning tasks in some spaces, makes her bed, washes her clothing, attends school in the morning and participates in other training projects. She goes out every two weeks to spend time with her mother and two little sisters who are also at the Home.

Hobbies & Sports: Her favorite color is purple, her favorite food is rice with eggs,

What she likes most about the Hogar is having lots of friends, the playroom, and the park.

What does Ana want to be when she grows up? When she grows up she wants to be a police officer

!!! Updates for Ana !!!

Ana Yibeli is a 9-year-old girl with a heart full of songs and joy. She describes herself as immensely happy to have friends and a place she considers "beautiful." She dreams of becoming a singer when she grows up. She is a child who deeply appreciates having a roof, food, and, above all, a lot of love. From the foundation, she has learned the value of respect and is moved by the presence of volunteers and staff, whom she thanks for being with them in this place she defines as her favorite home.

Ana Yibeli belongs to the Embera Katío indigenous community. Her history with the organization began in 2023, but after a brief return to her community amidst an unstable situation in Bogotá, her mother decided to request her admission once again. The risk of forced recruitment by illegal groups in her territory and the lack of support networks for her care while her mother works as a domestic helper made Hogar de Cristo the safe haven for her and her sisters. Here, Ana has been able to resume her education starting from the first grade, leaving uncertainty behind.

What's new in school? Ana greatly values the opportunity to study and has a dedicated study hall where she loves to learn. Her favorite subject is Spanish, and she feels very proud to have access to a school that provides her with tools for her future. For her, education is a fundamental part of the security and the "everything" she now feels she possesses at the foundation.

What does she do after school? She is a very creative and active girl. She loves spending time in the park, especially in the sand area where she enjoys making drawings and castles. She also participates in group activities with her friends, running and sharing games. She is a nature observer, enjoying watching butterflies and the diversity of trees surrounding her home.

What are her sports and hobbies? Her favorite physical activity is jumping rope, and she thoroughly enjoys the trampoline. In the park, her favorite spot is the swings. She has a natural inclination toward music and singing, showcasing her talent with children's songs that reflect her cheerful spirit. Her connection with living beings is remarkable, with butterflies being her favorite animals.
