About Juli: Juliana is indigenous of the Embera Katío community, her mother works as a domestic employee. Juliana was previously at our other Home, the Hogar Bohío de María, in the year 2023 with her sister Ana Yibeli. Her mother withdrew them to return to the indigenous community. Most recently, they were in Bogota experiencing instability that led to the girl dropping out of school.

The mother requested the placement because she left the community again a few months ago, she works normally as a maid in a family home and has no other family members who can help her with the care of Juliana and her other two little sisters.

Juliana will begin her studies in the fifth grade of primary school, according to her mother's information, however due to the fact that she has dropped out of school, they are in the process of determining the grade she should resume.

They report that there is a risk of being kidnapped by illegal groups in the community, and they lack the support of their fathers.

Home Duties & Privileges: Juliana is part of the first stage of adaptation, in which she works on the institution's training proposal, the values of obedience and respect, as well as organizational criteria. She takes on cleaning tasks in some spaces, makes her bed, washes her clothing, receives personalized support upon arriving at the Home to strengthen her reading and writing process, and participates in other training projects. She goes out every two weeks to spend time with her mother and two little sisters who are also at the Home.

Hobbies & Sports: Her favorite color is pink, her favorite food is hamburgers, and she enjoys riding her bike. What she likes most about home is the park.

What does Juli want to be when she grows up? When she grows up she wants to be a police officer

!!! Updates for Juliana !!!

Juliana is a 12-year-old girl with an artistic spirit and a heart full of dreams. She describes herself as someone who values the guidance of her mentors and the safety she feels at the home. Her favorite foods are pizza and hamburgers. She dreams of becoming a professional singer in the future. Her greatest wish is the well-being of and reunion with her family, and she welcomes volunteers with an open invitation to enjoy the happiness and peace she has found at the foundation.

Juliana belongs to the Embera Katío indigenous community and is originally from Tadocho, Chocó. Her history with the organization includes a previous stay at Hogar Bohío de María in 2023, before her family temporarily returned to their community and later faced an unstable situation in Bogotá. Due to the risk of recruitment by illegal groups in her territory and the fact that her mother works long hours as a domestic helper without support networks, Juliana returned to the foundation a year ago. This environment has provided her with the necessary protection to resume her life away from danger and uncertainty.

What's new in school? Juliana is currently in an academic placement process to determine the exact grade she should resume after previously leaving school. Despite these challenges, she shows great motivation for her studies and highlights English as her favorite subject. She deeply values the guidance of her mentors and sees education as the path to achieving her personal and professional dreams.

What does she do after school? She is a very sociable girl who fully enjoys spending time with her peers. She actively participates in playground activities and group games like hide and seek. She has successfully internalized the foundation's values, highlighting her learning about respect, honesty, and prompt obedience. Additionally, she enthusiastically engages in recreational activities and values time spent talking and connecting with her friends.

What are her sports and hobbies? Her great passion is singing, especially songs with sweet and meaningful messages; one of her favorites is "Libre Venezuela." In her free time, her favorite places are the park and the sports field, where she has fun and shares with others. She has a special interest in the animals at the home, with the cat being the pet that has caught her attention the most due to its behavior and companionship.
