About Liam: Liam and his sister Dulce lived for several years with their father and mother, who separated a few years ago due to physical and verbal abuse by the father.

Liam's mother and his sister Dulce do not have stable jobs. They depend financially on their maternal grandmother, who has seven other people living in her home. They have not been attending school for a long time due to their family's lack of responsibility.

Liam is a 7-year-old boy from San Pablo Manrique with a noble and creative spirit. He stands out for valuing the cleanliness and order of the home that welcomes him. He dreams of becoming a soldier when he grows up, motivated by his sense of discipline and service. His favorite food is pizza, and like any boy his age, he wishes for a gaming console. He is a grateful child who invites everyone to experience the beauty and warmth of Hogar de Cristo.

Liam arrived at Hogar de Cristo alongside his sister Dulce seven months ago, seeking refuge from an environment marked by physical and verbal abuse from his father. Due to his mother's job instability and the difficult economic conditions of his maternal grandmother-who supports a household of eight people-Liam spent a long period out of school. Joining the foundation has finally allowed him to access consistent education and a protective environment that guarantees his overall well-being.

What's new in school? Liam has shown a remarkable interest in his academic training, with Mathematics being his favorite subject. He deeply values the order and guidance he receives for his schoolwork. For him, school is not just a place of learning, but a space where he feels supported and motivated to develop his intellectual abilities from an early age.

What does he do after school? He is a very active boy who enjoys recess and cultural activities such as watching movies. He enthusiastically participates in social dynamics, where he has internalized fundamental values such as respect and non-violence toward his peers. Additionally, he dedicates part of his time to painting, an activity he is passionate about and practices diligently after finishing his homework.

What are his sports and hobbies? His great sporting passion is basketball, although he also thoroughly enjoys soccer and traditional games like "hide and seek" and "tag." His favorite place at the foundation is the study hall, as he can paint there and receive academic support. He has a special connection with animals, with Cheno, the foundation's large dog, being his favorite pet.

No. Unlike most of the other child sponsorship programs, we allow a child to have multiple sponsors. Other sponsorship organizations provide many wonderful services for their children; food, clothing, education. We are a little bit different in that we are operating a Home for these kids and thus also provide them with a place to live, staff to cook food for them them and teachers to educate them.

What happens if a child leaves the home?

Many kids at the home are in volatile situations where they may have family members in the area, but are unable to provide for their children. Although we are given guardianship over the children, family members, according to Colombian law, maintain their authority. If a family member arrives to claim responsibility, we are obligated to relinquish the child to them. If this happens, you will be notified and your sponsorship will be moved to a new child, so that you can continue helping children.
