About María Angel: María Angel has three brothers, one who is 10 years old, who lives in a different home called the Hogar del Niño, and two sisters on her father's side whom she knows but does not spend time with. Her father is elderly and lives in the municipality of Yarumal. They occasionally have telephone contact.
Maria Angel is the daughter of a single Mom. The economic situation is very difficult. The family's livelihood depends on the money that her mother makes selling plastic bags and chewing gum on the streets of the Municipality of Itagui. Maria Angel's grandmother died a year ago so the mother had to take care of an uncle of Maria Angel who is 45 years old and suffers from mental disorders. Since the death of the grandmother, Maria Angel's mother took the girl out with her to her job so as not to leave her at home alone with her uncle.
Home Duties & Privileges: María Angel is part of the first stage of adaptation, in which she works on the institution's educational proposal, the values of obedience and respect, as well as organizational criteria. She takes on cleaning tasks in some spaces, makes her bed, washes her clothing, attends school in the morning and participates in other educational projects. She goes out every two weeks to spend time with her mother and brother when she has time off from the boarding school where she attends.
Hobbies & Sports: María Angel enjoys going to the park to play, she also really enjoys practicing soccer and basketball on the court, and watching TV on the main court. Her favorite movie is Pop Warriors, her favorite food is chicken sancocho (a traditional dish in the Antioquia region of Colombia), and her favorite colors are pink and purple.
What does María Angel want to be when she grows up? When Maria Angel grows up she would like to be a veterinarian.

María Ángel is a 13-year-old girl with a noble and grateful spirit. She prefers the cool climate and the abundance of plants surrounding her new home. Her tastes in food are simple and fun, enjoying hamburgers, pizza, and "salchipapas." Despite the challenges she has faced, she keeps a heart full of hope, and her deepest wish is to one day have a home of her own. She welcomes volunteers with open arms, describing the foundation as a beautiful place filled with love.
María Ángel joined Hogar de Cristo over six months ago due to a very complex economic and family situation. Raised by a single mother, her family's livelihood depended on selling bags and gum on the streets of Itagüí. After her grandmother passed away, her mother became the caregiver for an uncle with mental health disorders, forcing María Ángel to accompany her mother to work on the streets to avoid being left home alone. At the foundation, she has found a safe haven and the cool climate she enjoys so much, allowing her to live a full and protected childhood.
What's new in school? María Ángel is a student with diverse interests and a great artistic sensibility. Her favorite subjects are Arts, Spanish, and Natural Sciences. She highly values the learning environment at the home, where she combines academic knowledge with practice in the natural surroundings, showing a constant willingness to acquire new skills to help her reach her goals.
What does she do after school? She is a very enthusiastic participant in community garden activities, where she has learned technical processes for planting cilantro, carrots, and lettuce. She also enjoys spending time in the park drawing and sharing with her peers. She has stood out for internalizing fundamental values such as responsibility, kindness, honesty, and sincerity, applying them in her daily interactions within the home community.
What are her sports and hobbies? She is passionate about physical activity, especially basketball, soccer, and swimming. In her free time, she enjoys jumping rope, riding the swings, and using the trampoline. She has an innate curiosity for the local wildlife, marveling at the large centipedes she has discovered.
